Why we charge for Cha Pro

First things first: Cha is free. Browsing the map costs nothing and always will. Tea houses near you, city search, tea house profiles, festivals and the Explore page are free for everyone, forever.

Cha Pro adds the community layer: your public profile, check-ins, separate ratings for the tea and the welcome, tasting notes and photos for every pot, unlimited shareable lists, and a feed of what your people are drinking. It costs 0.99 € a month or 9.99 € a year, and the first month is free.

Here is why we charge for it.

Our money comes from tea people, never tea houses.

Pro subscriptions, and one day perhaps a tasting or two: that's it. We don't take money from tea houses, shops or brands. Not for listings, not for placement, not for badges. A tea house is on Cha because it pours real tea with care, and a Cha Master is one the team would cross a city for. The moment a tea house could pay us, you couldn't fully trust a pin again.

A small fee keeps ratings honest.

Every score on Cha will come from someone who sat down, drank, and took the time to rate the tea and the welcome separately. People who invest a little tend to rate with care, and that is worth more than a thousand drive-by stars.

It keeps us independent.

Cha grew out of Wikiteadia and the Até Chá tea house: tea people mapping the places they love. It runs the same way: no ads, no investors deciding what the map should look like.

One more thing, because we mean it: good tea costs what it costs because everyone from the garden to the gaiwan deserves a fair wage. We think the same is true of apps.
